Abstract

T-cell lymphomas primarily involving subcutaneous tissue and mimicking panniculitis have rarely been described. In addition, some cases may have been previously reported as malignant histiocytosis. Some f the affected patients have developed a hemophagocytic syndrome.
A 44-year-old woman showed multiple, recurrent, ill-defined, variable sized, erythematous, tender subcutnaeous nodules on the trunk and extremities. Subcutnaeous nodules on the trunk and extremities. Histopathological findings revealed the infiltration of hyperchromatic atypical large lymphocytes and numerous beanbag-like-cells in the subcutaneous fat. The infiltrated cells were positively stained with Leucocyte common antigen, UCHL-1 antigen, Lysozyme, but not with CD20. Bone marrow biopsy showed mild erythroid hyperplasia and erythorophagocytic histiocytes. These histopathological features were consistent with cutnaeous t cell lymphoma invlving the subcutaneous tissue.
